Eager to review our first year in operation, I started asking Bjarni, Budge and Rikard questions about our first year, and some of their favourite highs and lows. I have no idea how many different shirts we’ve had in the vaults this year, no-one has any idea actually since we didn’t keep count and even if we were, we don’t have that many fingers. More than 50 different brands have had their shirts included at some point, some on a very regular basis, some we just flirted with but it didn’t work out.
In this short post I’ll show you each of teams personal favourite shirts.
Budge: Trapped which was available for just one day from Ript. Incidentally its the same designer Atilla of Peach Beach now a friend and neighbour here in Berlin, creator of Everything is Okay, which is Bjarni’s pick and shows we share a similar and most likely superior mental wavelength. I became entangled in a tree once for several hours. Possibly that’s why I like this shirt so. I don’t remember a wolf though but I think I fell a sleep for a while there.
Bjarni: Everything is okay. Incidentally we think this has our lowest ever return rate. We had 60 shirts of this one design, it’s been returned once because of its “left wing complaining about everything messaging”.
Rikard: I found my old favorite shirt inside the wardrope of my grandma,which makes me happy and angry at the same time, because she also wrapped her false teeth inside it – “thank you grandma!” [Editors Note: I have no real idea what this means either, with Rikard its easier not to ask]
Dr Willem: A tough one to call. Definetely Pinkerton by Tilteed which just arrived two weeks ago, and I stole immediately and refused to stop wearing since. This guy speaks to me. He is me. But not just me, he is all of us trying our best to balance, head up, look straight ahead, left foot, right foot, nearly there now….We’ve still a few of these in the vaults, but not many.
Also Journey to the city of now Horizon.
We don’t have a compelling wholesale deal with DBH so we rarely have their shirts since there is no margin on them for us after shipping and import tax. But just occasionally we’ll pick up a few because at what they do, there are few better and the shirt and print quality is so high its worth it. We had about 4 of this design. Again immediately I stole one for myself. Interestingly of the other 3, one was returned and I nearly wept when it came back. I actually considered shutting down our whole operation. I also briefly contemplated suicide. So hard was it for me to imagine someone not falling in love with this design.
